What color do I paint my walls in my dining room?

I have a red brick fireplace that stretches the whole width of the wall. I have a cathedral ceiling that has dark wood on it, and my trim is also a dark brown stain color. My carpeting is a royal blue, not dark blue but not baby blue.... I don't know what color would go best. I thought about a deep red but have heard the walls with the paint color would "compete" with the fireplace. I have a lot of natural light. I have a sliding gl door on the opposite wall of the fireplace and a 12 ft. Bay window on another wall
