Is this community threat reportable?

I admit, I was driving too fast in a neighborhood when I should have been driving slower. However, when I parked my car in my garage, a big man from my community knocked on my door and when I opened it, he threatened if he ever saw me driving that fast he would drag me out of the car and beat me. I told him that I was sorry for driving so fast but he had no rights to knock on my door, on my property, to threaten me like that. I was driving too fast and I will slow down in the future, but is this threat reportable to the police because he wanted to fight with me but I closed the door. I think that he could have said he would call the police if I drove so fast again, but definitely not if he threatened me with bodily harm. I have one witness: My father heard and saw his threats. I am not mad at his reaction to my driving. I should be careful next time. However, the fact that he was on my property threatening for a fight makes me believe he overreacted. These two issues are different. How does the law work on this?
